Helpful Hints
- Add emulsions to water only
- Ensure very high shear at polymer and water interface
- Use soft tempered water 20-30 Deg. C
- Standard Emulsions 30 -35 % Active
- Concentrations .25 – 1.5% – consider Neat Polymer as 100% active when calculating feed rates
- Modulate polymer flow – not water – keeps systems cleaner with higher flow & pressure
- PC pumps recommended for neat polymer feed
- Agitate Neat Polymer
- Use “Desiccant Dryer” on Neat Polymer tank vent if high humidity is a concern
- Pumps SS/Viton – shaft speeds 450 rpm max., ENSURE flooded suction
- Consider Bag Filters in applications as advised by your chemical supplier
- “Critical” polymer application avoid direct to process system, use mix/age tank where possible
- Consider 20 – 30 minutes age time (use tanks when possible)
- Prevent leaks; avoid using water to clean spills, emulsions are very slippery when water is added
- For spills consider using dri-rite material and sweep up
Neat Polymer Feed Pumps – intermittent use;
- re-cycle polymer to neat storage vessel – or/
- Flush with mineral oil
- W/ Mineral oil lay-up Rotate pumps each month
- Inspect and clean check valves after usage
Process Feed Pumps – intermittent use;
- Flush with water rotate at low speed
- Lay-up with mineral oil
- W/ Mineral oil lay-up Rotate pumps each month
- Inspect and clean check valves after usage
Neat Storage Tanks;
- Do not flush or use water
- Inspect for build-up on side wall
- May require high pressure hot water , ensure all water is removed & completely dried before going back in service
Application Tanks – intermittent use;
- Flush with water after each use
- Remove as much water as able, not a problem for these tanks to have water in them
- Neat Polymer – Maintain consistent temperature & low humidity
